Putin on Russia-India Coordination to Boost BRICS Influence

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that his country and India are working in a coordinated manner to promote the global influence of the BRICS mechanism (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) in a context of growing multipolarity. During an official visit to India, Putin highlighted that, as founding members of the bloc, Moscow and New Delhi have worked 'constantly' to expand the group's agenda and international weight, as reported by the official Kremlin website, according to the Argentine News Agency. The Russian leader pledged Russia's 'full support' for India, which will assume the rotating presidency of BRICS next year, to ensure the continuity of the group's current agenda and consolidate its strategic objectives. Putin also announced that Russia and India plan to adopt a joint declaration that will outline the priority tasks for strengthening bilateral ties, covering key areas such as politics, security, economy, trade, humanitarian affairs, and culture. Finally, the Russian president stressed the need for countries to cooperate together to achieve 'greater development,' instead of falling into the elimination of opportunities.
